Picture Richard Simmons. Does the first image that pops to your head that of an exaggeratedly vibrant and charismatic fitness star pop up?
Simmons was known for his quite ‘out there’ and flamboyant personality. He gathered a enormous fan base after sharing with the world his personal struggles with obesity.
Cher – Then
In her 1991 book called “Forever Fit: The Lifetime Plan for Health, Fitness and Beauty,” Cher rocked her best fitness gear, looking strong and determined, even back then, Cher was a "boss". She promised that she would forever be in good shape and that she was dedicated to the cause.
Her book highlighted exercise and weight loss programs, nutrition tips, and recommended skin-care products. She blossomed in the 80’s as a fitness diva, singer and performer and earned her well deserved spot as an icon of the 80’s.
Cher – Now
Cher has stayed true to her promise, at the age of 72 she is still fit and vivacious. The singer is still able to give a stellar performance, as seen in her performance at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards.
The then 71-year-old even told the audience that she can do a 5-minute plank. She can’t stress enough the importance of living a healthy and active lifestyle and proves her lifestyle is holding up quite well against the test of time.
Richard Simmons – Now
Simmons has not made a public appearance since 2014 and his fitness gym “Slimmons” in Beverly Hills, California closed abruptly in November 2016 without a public statement.
His disappearance from the public eye has sparked speculation and concern about his well being. We hope that he’s doing alright and still rocking his short shorts.
Raquel Welch-Then
Raquel Welch published a workout lifestyle book on aerobics and yoga.
The book was a major success, and the fitness guru's poster was a best-seller as well.
