There have been rumors swirling about for some months now that Apple is working on a mixed reality headset. If the rumors are true it will be a while until we get our hands on the finished product. The information comes from Mark Gurman’s Power On weekly, which he writes for Bloomberg.

Gurman has spent a significant portion of his professional career covering Apple goods, and in his newsletter, he speculates that the introduction of an Apple headset will be similar to the launches of previous devices such as the Apple Watch, the original iPhone, and the iPad. The newsletter reports that “Apple’s initial headset will feature a complicated, expensive-to-build design, replete with adjustable lenses,” according to Gurman.
The Apple headgear will feature both augmented reality and virtual reality capabilities, according to Gurman, which is where the interchangeable lenses may come into play.

In other words, it has the potential to be utilized for immersive virtual reality applications as well as mixed reality experiences in which digital components interact with the actual environment in some manner. Gurman anticipates that the debut of this headgear will be a significant announcement, on par with the introduction of the first Apple Watch.
Apple is known for announcing new goods and shipping them out fast, but Gurman anticipates a lengthier lead time in this instance. In a recent interview, Apple CEO Tim Cook expressed his excitement for augmented reality and mixed reality, suggesting that they are vital to the company’s future.

This may be the last new product launched under his leadership as CEO before he steps down. Well, no matter how long it takes we can’t wait to try this mixed form of VR and AR technology.
