Some call it luck, others call it raw talent – whatever you call it, there’s no denying that Ricky Nelson certainly had something going for him from a very young age. Why’s that? Well, how many eight-year-olds do you know that have been able to start a music career for themselves? Exactly. To his credit are hits like “Teen Idols” and “Poor Little Fool”.
With his first wife Kris Harmon, Nelson had four kids: Tracy Kristine Nelson, twin sons Gunnar Eric Nelson and Matthew Gray Nelson, and Sam Hilliard Nelson. Gunnar and Matthew would later form a band together called Nelson.
Alexa Ray Joel – Billy Joel
Sing us a song, you’re the piano man… there aren’t many songs with such an iconic opening, particularly one that’s so well-known all over the world. Billy had (and still has) many admirers. The famed musician had been married a couple of times – but it seemed that he needed a few tries to make marriage work for him.
For now, it seems that Billy Joel is happy with his fourth wife, Alexis Roderick, in his retired state. Alexa Ray Joel, his daughter from his marriage to Christie Brinkley, seems to have taken after her old man and is a musician herself. With a stunning mother and her father’s talent, she’s on the up and up!
Liza Minelli – Judy Garland
Judy Garland is one of those stars of old who will never be forgotten. The Wizard of Oz is arguably one of her most famous films (and generally one of the most famous films ever), and her acting and singing talents were surely passed on to her daughter Liza Minelli.
Liza Minelli started out as a nightclub singer, favoring cabaret and jazz styles, which were the perfect segue into the role which would garner her an Academy Award for Best Actress. Remember the 1972 hit Cabaret?! With her rich and soulful voice, Minelli captivated audiences, and today is a legend in her own right.
Dylan Brosnan – Pierce Brosnan
There’s certainly something in the Brosnan eyes. You just can’t tear yourself away from the piercing, intense look, which seems to have flowed down from father to son! With James Bond as a father, you’d expect him to be living quite the life – and especially armed with Brosnan’s debonair charm and looks, you’re pretty much Licensed to Kill. Heh.
Dylan Brosnan, however, has risen to fame in his own right – sure, the connections help, but the youngster has made a name for himself in the modeling world. Lucrative modeling contracts with the likes of British fashion house Burberry were the start for Brosnan – and with that jawline and head of hair, we know they won’t slow any time soon!
Imaj Thomas – Philip Michael Thomas
As soon as you say “Miami Vice”, the theme song starts in your head, doesn’t it? Anyway, one of the stars, Phillip Michael Thomas certainly made his mark – not just on the show, but also in numerous roles beforehand, including Coonskin in 1975, and Sparkle, a 1976 film. Fun fact: he’s the father of 11 children. Sheesh! That’s a lot of mouths to feed.
As well as being an actor, Thomas is a skilled musician, something that he seems to have passed on to his daughter, Imaj Thomas. Making her musical debut as a country singer-songwriter, we love her songs Passport and Colorblind. Not bad at all, kiddo!
